Minutes of the GENERAL MEETING held on Monday, the 10th October 2011 in the South West
Community Centre, 171 Sturt Street in Adelaide.
President Lynn Venning welcomed members and opened the meeting at 2:00 P.M.

The deaths of the following club members were reported:
Charles Jones on the 25th of September 2011, Fitter Islington aged 89.
Bob Curtin on the 27th of September 2011, Clerk, Adelaide aged 96.
The death of non-club member Bob Chalmers, Engineman on the 6th of October 2011 was also reported.
GENERAL BUSINESS: -
1. The minutes of the previous General Meeting were accepted at the Executive Meeting and
copies were available from the table.
2. The Next Meeting will be held on Monday the 24th of October. A travel DVD of trains/travel
is planned at this time.
3. Future meetings will be held on Monday 7th & 21st of November.
4. Names and payment for the Christmas Luncheon (on Monday the 12th of December 2011 at
the Pavilion on the Park) are still being accepted. The cost to members who attend the
Christmas Luncheon is $25.00 per person. To date, 30 members have booked.
5. Leo has managed to contact Max Kernich's wife Elsa and she advised that Max is still
recovering, in a Walkerville rehabilitation centre, because of being struck by a car back in March.
He is expected home in about two weeks.
6. An email message received from a Rod Roach seeking information about his father James
William Roach who joined the S.A.R. around 1933 at Bowden as a Porter and retiring as a
Yard Master Mile End was read out to the members.
7. Barrie Stroud was thanked for conducting today's raffle.
8. Members then watched an interesting DVD about the American Railroad influence down under.
Members were thanked for their attendance.
The Meeting was closed at 3:05 P.M.
There were 19 members present. Raffle proceeds after door prizes were $32.00.
