Minutes of the GENERAL MEETING held on Monday, the 15th August 2011 in the South West
Community Centre, 171 Sturt Street in Adelaide.
President Lynn Venning welcomed members and opened the meeting at 2:05 P.M.
Kevin Goodall was introduced to the members. He is seeking help with a project he is undertaking to
study how Greek and Italian immigrants in the 1950's learnt to speak and understand the English
language. A number of Greek and Italian immigrants have already been interviewed and he is now
seeking the assistance of supervisors and fellow work mates to gain further input.
Kevin is also involved with the Seniors Information Service and left a number of brochures for members.

Over 80's Birthdays: -
Nil.
The death of club member Jan Rutkowski on the 9th of August 2011, Engineman aged 81 years was reported.
GENERAL BUSINESS: -
1. The minutes of the previous General Meeting were accepted at the Executive Meeting and copies
were available from the table.
2. Barbara Nicks was asked to draw the first raffle ticket.
3. Barrie Stroud was thanked for his help conducting the raffle in the absence of John.
4. The Next Meeting will be held on Monday the 29th of August. Pat Marzahn has offered to show a
DVD of trains in the 1950's and 1960's.
5. The following meeting will be held on Monday 12th of September.
6. Names and payment for the Christmas Luncheon (on Monday the 12th of December 2011 at the
Pavilion on the Park) are now being accepted. The cost to members who attend the Christmas
Luncheon will be $25.00 per person.
7. Members then watched an interesting DVD depicting steam trains in and around Adelaide in the
1950's/1960's thanks to Pat Marzahn.
Members were thanked for their attendance.
The Meeting was closed at 3:05 P.M.
There were 20 members present. Raffle proceeds after door prizes were $32.00
