Minutes of the GENERAL MEETING held on Monday, the 21st June 2010 in the South West Community Centre, 171 Sturt Street in Adelaide.
President Lynn Venning welcomed members and declared the meeting open at 2:15 P.M.
APOLOGIES: -Ken McLaren.
Our guest speaker for today was club member John Morcom, who gave a very
interesting talk, beginning with the early days of the S.A.R. and ending with
the demise of A.N. At the end of his talk, Lynn Venning proposed a vote of thanks to John.
The members responded with acclamation.
John was then asked to draw the first raffle ticket.
A member of Trans Adelaide Bryanna Jenkins (Human Resource Administrator) had
been asked to address the members to day in regard to the question of free travel
on Trans Adelaide for retired railway employees but failed to appear.
Advice previously given to members by Trans Adelaide is that Trans Adelaide only grants
free travel to employees who were directly employed by Trans Adelaide or S.A.R. at the time of their retirement.
GENERAL BUSINESS: -
All present were advised that the minutes of the General Meeting held on Monday the 31st of May 2010 were confirmed at the Executive Meeting
and copies were available from the table.
In addition, a report on the luncheon held for our Patron on the 7th of June was also available from the table.
Lynn Venning visited Robert Hay on the 10th of June, as he has been un-well recently.
John McFawn was also reported to be on the sick list.
The luncheon held to celebrate our Patrons 100th birthday on Monday the 7th of June was a success.
Several members indicated that they were not happy with the chicken.
The next speaker on Monday the 5th of July will be John Newell who will talk about his railway experiences.
On Monday the 17th of May. Lynn Venning will show some early photos.
A $500 deposit has been paid to the Pavilion on the Park for our Xmas luncheon to be held on Monday the 13th of December.
The cost to members and their partners will be $30.00 per person. The club will cover the balance of the cost and pay for drinks as in the past.

Members then sang happy birthday to John (Newell) Albert (Maschgan) and Laurie Purtle (who turned 85 on the 6th June)
who were all present at the meeting.
Members were thanked for their attendance.
The Meeting was closed at 3:10 P.M.
There were 22 members present. Raffle proceeds after door prizes were $32.00
